How we collect and check our data

JewelryStoreAtlas lists 51,946 jewelry stores in 7,209 cities and towns across 50 states and the District of Columbia. This page explains where each listing comes from and what we do to keep it accurate.

Where the listings come from

Business names, addresses, phone numbers and websites start from open geodata: the Overture Maps Foundation places dataset, which includes Foursquare OS Places and OpenStreetMap contributions. We keep jewelry stores and jewelers, custom goldsmiths, jewelry and watch repair shops, gold buyers and diamond dealers, plus boutiques, gift shops and appraisers whose name says they sell or work on jewelry. Pawn shops are not part of this directory. We remove duplicates (the same name and street in the same city) and drop businesses that are reported closed or that asked to be removed.

A city gets its own page when it has at least two jewelry stores; towns with a single listing appear on their state page, so no page is built around one business.

What a listing shows

96% of listings have a phone number and 60% link to the business's own website. Opening hours appear only where the business or its owner has published them. We do not show ratings or reviews, and we do not copy text from other directories.

How features are marked

Jewelry repair, watch repair, gold buying, custom work, ear piercing, permanent jewelry, estate jewelry and appraisals are marked from the business name and its listing category — for example, a shop called "… Watch Repair" or one listed as a gold buyer — and, for many listings, from what the business's own website says. Every detail taken from a website (features, services, brands, hours) was matched word for word against the page before it went on the card. These marks are applied by software — name rules, wording rules run over each business's own website, and an AI model that reads that website — not written by hand. A mark from a website is kept only when the wording is found on the page, so a business without a mark may still offer the service — call to check.

Feature pages today: Jewelry Repair Shops (3,626) · Watch Repair Shops (3,218) · Gold Buyers (3,893) · Custom Jewelers (7,328) · Ear Piercing at Jewelers (735) · Permanent Jewelry (626) · Estate and Vintage Jewelry (2,190) · Jewelry Appraisers (3,463).

Corrections from owners

Owners can correct their listing for free — new hours, a changed phone number, a moved address, services they offer. Corrections are applied and the listing is marked "Updated by the owner" with the month. 10 listings carry that mark today. Owners can also ask for a listing to be removed, and the removal is permanent. Write to contact@jewelrystoreatlas.com.

How lists are ordered

From November 1, 2026, each city's Top 10 is held by verified partners — businesses that confirmed their details with us and show our Verified Partner badge on their website. Verification is free for the first 12 months. Until a city has ten partners, the remaining spots follow how complete a listing is — website, phone, hours, services — and whether the owner has checked it. The rest of each city page is ordered the same way. How to become a partner.

How often it is updated

The directory is rebuilt from the current data every night, so owner corrections usually appear within a day. The underlying geodata is refreshed from new Overture releases.
